Hello,
The islands of Great Cranberry and Islesford are facing an almost insurmountable shortage of housing. Not only of affordable housing, but also of available housing. When the workforce cannot find a place to live, the community suffers and the year-round existence of the islands is threatened. This situation has persisted on the islands for decades, but has become even more pressing in recent years.
CIRT is in need of community support to address these challenges. There are many ways to contribute, and not just through a cash donation. Some examples:
Rent a room, an accessory unit, or your home itself on a year-round basis
Build an accessory unit to rent year-round
Donate a building or land to CIRT now or plan ahead to do so **
Look for year-round buyers before you sell buildings or property
Sell to a year-round buyer at a reduced price
Sell to CIRT at a reduced price **
Donate a boat or other valuables to CIRT **
Make a general cash donation **
Donate to a specific program **
** Denotes that Tax Benefits are Available
Thank you for considering these options, any of which will help revive the struggling year-round communities of the Cranberry Isles. Generous support in the past has enabled CIRT to bring and keep working families and individuals here. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me or any of our Board. We are glad to speak with you.
Sincerely,
Jason Pickering,
Treasurer
